Wyndham Istanbul Old City

This luxury hotel is situated in the heart of Istanbul’s celebrated Old City in a majestically restored historic building that distinctly illuminates the beauty of Ottoman architecture. Originally it was four separated standalone buildings, these have been joined together with an internal atrium volume. It has 265 guest rooms, four multi-functional meeting and event rooms (including a beautiful Ballroom), restaurant and bar area, commercial areas and a large Spa & Fitness area equipped with a heated indoor swimming pool, sauna, steam bath, Turkish bath and a fitness center.

JVVA performed a fire safety review of the hotel, the review was specifically focused on smoke movement i.e. smoke propagation in case of fire and how this would affect the evacuation conditions from the hotel. Based on the results of the review we performed a subsequent advanced smoke control analysis for 5 internal atria. The objective of the analysis was to determine if additional fire safety measures were needed to be incorporated to achieve an adequate level of safety. The project required a very close collaboration with the client due to a very tight timeline and the necessity to developed practical and viable solutions that could be incorporated while the hotel is fully operational.
