Matadero Madrid

The slaughterhouse and municipal cattle market of Madrid was a set of 48 buildings and 165,415 square meters dedicated to performing functions of industrial slaughterhouse and livestock market in the city of Madrid for most of the twentieth century. Today is a center created by the city of Madrid to promote different cultural activities as visual arts, performing arts, literature, reading, music, cinema etc.

JVVA was involved in the Fire and smoke modelling to verify the ventilation system performance in an iconic building in Madrid, Spain. JVVA performed an evacuation study for the entire Matadero complex. The aim of this study was to identify shortcomings in the design and propose additional fire safety measures to mitigate the risk for occupants.
